Welcome to the Dipendra Kandel Initiative (DKI).
DKI was established with a simple yet ambitious vision: to contribute to a stronger Nepal by generating knowledge, strengthening institutions, and connecting ideas with action. In a rapidly changing world, effective governance and sustainable development require evidence-based solutions, meaningful collaboration, and a commitment to continuous learning. DKI was created to help advance these principles through research, capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and practical initiatives that address real-world challenges.
The Kandel Foundation, established in 2015, laid the early foundation for this journey with a mission to empower society through sports as a tool for youth development, inclusion, and community engagement. Over time, this mission, along with its programs and experience, has been integrated into DKI to expand its scope and impact under a broader institutional platform.
Today, our work spans policy and program research, NGO capacity building, election observation, city twinning, sports development, disaster response, and community engagement. While these areas may appear diverse, they are united by a common purpose—to empower institutions, support informed decision-making, and contribute to the long-term development of Nepal.
At DKI, we believe that strong institutions create strong communities, and strong communities create a strong nation. Through research-driven insights, collaborative partnerships, and innovative approaches, we seek to support the Government of Nepal, development partners, civil society organizations, and local communities in building more effective and responsive systems.
As we continue to grow, we remain committed to integrity, innovation, inclusiveness, and public service. We welcome partnerships with individuals, institutions, municipalities, and organizations that share our vision of a more capable, resilient, and prosperous Nepal.
Thank you for your interest in DKI. We invite you to join us in transforming knowledge into action and ideas into impact.
