Policy and Program Research
DKI conducts policy and program research across diverse sectors to generate evidence-based knowledge, identify development challenges, and evaluate existing systems and interventions. Through research studies, policy analysis, field assessments, and stakeholder consultations, the initiative develops practical recommendations that support informed decision-making, effective governance, and sustainable development outcomes.
NGO Capacity Building
DKI strengthens the institutional capacity of NGOs and community-based organizations through assessments, training, technical assistance, and organizational development support. By helping organizations improve governance, strategic planning, resource mobilization, program management, and operational effectiveness, DKI contributes to building stronger and more sustainable civil society institutions.
Election Observation
DKI undertakes election observation and electoral systems research to examine voting processes, democratic participation mechanisms, and election administration practices. Through field observation, comparative analysis, and documentation of electoral experiences, the initiative promotes greater understanding of democratic systems and contributes to informed discussions on electoral participation and governance.
City Twinning
DKI facilitates city twinning initiatives that foster long-term partnerships between municipalities, institutions, and communities across different countries. These partnerships encourage knowledge exchange, cultural understanding, technical cooperation, and the sharing of innovative solutions to local development challenges, helping strengthen international engagement at the local level.
DKI SportSphere
(A Kandel Foundation Legacy Project)
DKI SportSphere promotes sports as a platform for youth development, leadership, social inclusion, and community engagement. Building on the legacy of the Kandel Foundation, the program supports sporting activities, athlete development initiatives, sports education, and community-based events that encourage participation, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles.
Disaster Response
DKI supports disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts by facilitating coordination among stakeholders, promoting information sharing, and supporting community-focused response mechanisms. Originating from the Kandel Foundation, this initiative contributes to strengthening resilience, enhancing emergency preparedness, and supporting affected communities during natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies.
DKI organizes educational, cultural, professional, and community-based events that bring together government representatives, experts, institutions, students, civil society organizations, and international participants. These events provide platforms for knowledge sharing, dialogue, networking, and collaboration on issues related to governance, development, innovation, and public engagement. Through conferences, seminars, workshops, forums, exhibitions, cultural programs, and community initiatives, DKI promotes learning, strengthens institutional connections, and encourages meaningful participation in national and international development efforts.
Through these interconnected areas, DKI bridges research, capacity building, and practical action to empower institutions, strengthen governance systems, and contribute to Nepal’s long-term development and resilience.
