Dipendra Kandel Initiative
  • Technocratic Diplomacy

The globalized reality we live in requires us to engage in active learning and adapting to change. Therefore, all our work is conducted with an international mindset and a technocratic approach.

In the long run, we wish to increase international cooperation and technocratic practices across the public and private sector.

Internship

At DKI we understand the importance of an inclusive, multicultural, and dynamic working environment. Internships are offered by our office as a means to expand knowledge, perspectives, and innovations to empower the Nepalese government and its society. Interns play a crucial role in the growth of our organisation and here at DKI we offer several internships.

Read more to find out which one may best suit your requirements. Please note all internships are non-paid. However, in special cases paid employment may be offered to chosen recipients of the internships. Due to the changing work environment globally, our office is flexible for these internships, so please don't hesitate to contact us on info@dk-initiative.org with any questions you may have.

Types

Academic Internship

This type of internship is used to fulfil an academic requirement from a University or College. The research work must be completed in the prescribed time given by the respective university and DKI.

Professional Internship

Despite being unpaid, this internship provides a stepping stone into the professional world. It gives you the necessary tools, experience, and expertise to move into the working world post-internship. It is the most valuable as you’ll be working practically on-site in Nepal.

Voluntary Internship

If you are looking to invest any number of hours in our organisation, this is the internship for you. There is no pressure on the amount of work you put in, but there is an expectation that by the end of your time with DKI you would have contributed but also gained something valuable.

Modes

Remote

Academic internship: this can be onsite or remote. All costs of this internship must be covered by the University or College itself.

Voluntary internship: this type of internship is remote.
The number of hours spent on the policy research is determined between our organisation and you during the contract phase of the recruitment process.

Professional internship:
professional internships cannot solely be done remotely.

Onsite

Academic internship: this can be onsite or remote. All costs of this internship must be covered by the University or College itself.

Voluntary internship: this internship cannot be done on-site (Nepal) and can only be done remotely.

Professional internship:

It includes working forty (40) hours per week. For onsite interns, DKI provides accommodation, a professional office table, and all work-related transportation. Food and other expenses must be covered by yourself for the duration of your stay. Flights are not usually covered by the organisation, but special requests can be made depending on the duration of the internship (six (6) months to one (1) year internships are not guaranteed but are more likely to be provided with flights to and from their respective locations).

Hybrid

Academic internship: this can be onsite or remote. All costs of this internship must be covered by the University or College itself.

Voluntary internship: this internship cannot be done on-site (Nepal) and can only be done remotely.

Professional internship:

If a professional intern chooses to do the hybrid mode, they must work a minimum of 20 hours/week remotely before coming to Nepal. When working on-site in Nepal they will be working 40 hours/weekly.
